Hornsey Central is a scheme within the Barnet, Enfield and Haringey LIFT framework. The new building is located on the old Hornsey Hospital site and has been the subject of considerable community consultation for a number of years. The new three-storey facility embraces the existing listed memorial building, which has been used as a visual marker for the entrance to the new centre.
Clinical accommodation is arranged around three sides of a central foyer space, which contains reception areas, waiting spaces and a new cafe. The ground floor also accommodates a day care unit for older people with dementia, which opens onto a private therapy garden at the rear of the site. The functional content and layout of the scheme was designed to reflect new models of clinical care.
