The new health centre project, which accommodates 24 hour GP services and associated treatment facilities, involved the building of a large new first floor mezzanine extension to the rear of an existing supermarket.
Bold colours and graphics were essential to the wayfinding strategy and provide visual interest within all areas of the centre. Due to the existing warehouse nature of the store, a large rooflight was added to allow plenty of natural daylight into the deep plan space.
Following the project's completion in November 2009 it has become a popular service amongst local residents and shoppers, marking a new approach to how NHS services can be delivered.
